Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is one of the largest districts in the state, with 180,982 total students. Of those, 26.5% are multilingual learners, 16.3% receive specialized education and 38.5% of students are experiencing poverty. 

Research question identified with FCPS:

What are the determinants and effects of students’ repeated exposure to provisionally licensed teachers?

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is  one of the fastest growing school divisions in the state. It enrolls 82,028 students. Of those, 19.6% are multilingual learners, 11.8% receive specialized education and 24.5% are experiencing poverty. 

Research questions identified with LCPS:

What are the classroom and school conditions where educational opportunity and performance gaps between students with disabilities (SWD) and those students without disabilities decrease?

Arlington is an urban county adjacent to Washington, DC and is the eighth largest county in the metro area. Arlington County Public Schools (ACPS) has an enrollment of 27,536 students. Of those, 26.2% are multilingual learners that represent 149 countries. Additionally, 15% of its students receive specialized education and 27.8% of its students are experiencing poverty. 

Research questions identified with ACPS:

Some middle schools are structured by cross-content teams that include one teacher from each core content area. What teacher-team, student-team, teacher-student, and student-student rostering decisions optimize students’ educational academic and nonacademic outcomes?
